How Coworkers Can Help Each Other

How Coworkers Can Help Each Other

Work Place is the second home for many people and colleagues are their home mates, because people spend almost half of their day in office, so it’s necessary to maintain relations with your co-workers and help each other, not just because you have work with them but maintaining good relations with them can make office time more survivable which directly leads to more productivity, and hence there are more chances of your increment or promotion. So, in order to maintain good relations, you have to care about them and help them too.
Here are some of the key points that will help you in maintaining good relations with your co-workers.
1) Stop mailing, start meeting
People usually get lost in mails, which leads to less personal interaction, therefore they eventually start disconnecting which is inappropriate. So, instead of just hitting the “send” button, you should walk and tell them in person, this will not only help you to build connection with them but will also help you to stay healthy and will refresh your mind, as you will get up from your boring chair, irrespective of your designation in the company. They will also feel important, and get re-energized to finish their tasks even harder as you will go to them and tell them in person.
Daily real-life interaction is really necessary for everyone especially with those you work with everyday. So, stop mailing and start meeting them in person, this will help both of you to stay healthy and energized towards your tasks, and this is how you can help each other.
2) Know and encourage them on what they are working on
Buy them a cup of coffee, talk about your work, you might not be able to help them but you can definitely listen to what they are going through. Your department might be different but you can help them in managing the work. Talking to them doesn’t mean talking only about the task assigned to them, you should talk about your interest, success, struggles and much more.
This will not only freshen up the mind, but will help you to explore more about each other. Moreover, this will also help both of you advance in your respective jobs, career and even make more incentives.
3) Take ownership when they fall
Co-worker means working together, and sometimes co-workers have to work for each other when they are working on group projects. It is easy to blame each other when the problem arises, but it will not help you to build a good relation with your colleagues, that moment or project is temporary, but the relation with your co-workers will stay longer, so take stand for your co-workers and take responsibility in helping each other.
4) Blame your success on your co-workers
Next time someone appraises your work, blame your success on someone else or even on some of your employees for helping in achieving your goals. You must help them by giving the recognition they deserve and by positioning them well for their growth as team players. This will energize them to work harder for their tasks, and in return they will also blame you for their success, so this is how you both can help each other in re-energizing to work hard on the tasks assigned.
5) Share the new way to look at things
It is a great feeling when co-workers help each other see things differently and help them get there too. Make an environment where people think that, it’s all about “us” instead of it’s all about “me”. Share positive messages, spread positivity regardless of the source. Send them positive videos, quote or even walk to them and show it personally and discuss it, so that both of you can share positive thoughts and help each other in sharing the new way you look at things, and hence it will lead to more productivity.
6) Good Etiquette
Etiquette directly affects your image and reputation in the office. You should be polite while you are around your co-workers. Don’t distract anyone especially when you are on a phone call no matter personal or professional. You should talk politely and don’t disturb them with your loud voice.
Moreover, when you are mailing use proper etiquette like always say “please” instead of ordering them, give them regards, show that you care about them. Apart from this, while eating lunch with your co-workers, share your food with them, let them have your meal.
7) Go Out
You may not get enough time for interaction in your office hours because of the work load, so you can also ask them out if they are comfortable with it, don’t force them. Also, before asking them to go out, you must have some cool places in your bucket list. Also, you must consider their opinion too, they might have a better suggestion for places.
8) Do Not spread gossip
This is one of the worst things you can do at your workplace, because sharing such gossip will get you into trouble no matter whether the gossip you share is accurate or a rumor. This might be tempting for you and the listener to share juicy gossips, but you should not do so, because doing so will result in you appearing to be untrustworthy and leave everyone worried that they could be your next subject.
9) Offer Help
Nobody likes calling a technical team every month, you must ask them if you can. Maybe your co-worker is going through something really bad, no matter personally or professionally. You must ask them if they need your help, they may refuse at once, but ask them again, make them feel comfortable with you, so that they won’t hesitate while asking for your help. In return they’ll help you too when you are in need. So, this give and take relation will let you help each other and hence you will be more happy and make your workplace a happier and positive place.
So, these were some basic tips that cost nothing but in return will give you everything you need at your workplace. No matter increment, promotion, good working environment, helpful colleagues, these little gestures in your life will make your office life better and more fun. Pay attention to your coworkers, help them, be humble in their ups and downs no matter personal or professional. This is how coworkers can help each other, and hence will lead in more productivity and office will be no more a “boring place”
